[00:00:00] Welcome to understanding TikTok. This is Jeff Stanislow the CEO and the chief at Chief Internet Marketer. I'd like you to take some time to just thank you for suggesting it with me, and hopefully you enjoy presentation on TikTok.

[00:00:24] A little bit about me before we get started. I call myself a twenty-year digital marketing rookie. I started in this business back in the late nineties building websites and hath done pretty much everything Industries evolved into from digital marketing, uh, email search social media marketing social media management and everything in between the owner of Chief internet marketer as I mentioned where we do digital marketing certifications training Consulting and services and more often. Um, I have been lived in Detroit worked in Silicon Valley for a while and also living in residing right now in Tampa. I've been named a who's who in technology for crain's Detroit the radio sure show host currently on am 820 for business and marketing. I

[00:01:24] I've been an event speaker Innovation Summit a mad, New York City internet world and I worked with fortune five hundred companies like for GM Chrysler off even more and I've also worked with solar entrepreneurs and I'm a board member at Adventhealth USF, Hillsborough Community College and Florida State University. I serve their digital marketing and advisory boards at the universities.

[00:01:56] So you getting ready for Tik-Tok we're going to talk about here today. What is tiktok? Why is it so popular where and how can I get it? How does it work? What you what can you do? How was it used and how businesses are using Tik Tok and where it's going in the future?

[00:02:17] So what is tick tock tick tock is the destination for short short form mobile videos in some ways. It's a bite sized version of YouTube with videos ranging between 5060 seconds in length creators have access to an assortment of filters and effects as well as a massive music library.

[00:02:40] But why is it so popular these key components make it popular. It's viral. It's addictive. It's easy. It's fast. It's fun. It's interesting is innovative as entertaining. It's right through influencers, and it's starting to monetize for business. Use. Here's an example of one of the videos.

[00:03:14] 6.7 million life's 9,000 comments from that simple video.

[00:03:26] But how popular is Tik Tok and where'd it come from? This video is gives you a good example, but as long as it originated from China as being from White dance emerged with music Lily in 2018 and other popular social media app not been without his contract. He related to privacy laws because the average age excuse younger. It's a top-five social network Mount 1.65 billion downloads to date eight hundred million active monthly users in the US about 30 million monthly active users. And the average user spends about 46 minutes per day on Tik Tok thirty thousand billion video views a month. The SKU is Young like I had mentioned 13 to 24 our 70% of the user base.

[00:04:23] But this is expanding as all social media apps have 60% female and 40% male, but the average user opens Tik Tok Sadat. Tic Tacs eight times a day. So this is a little bit shocking and I found this video that I thought was

[00:05:02] So, where do I where and how do I get Tick Tock? You can go to Tik Tok. Com. You can download it right from their website. They also make it easier for you to get it by entering the cell off all your cell phone number and get a text with the app link right in it. You can also be new videos right from the site. This is like I'm like Instagram and click watch it. Now on the upper right hand corner of the South you can explore and check out some of the videos search in app stores are just search anywhere on Google or any of the search engines Tik Tok and follows fails. Ask your kid.

[00:05:40] So how does it work well teens just kind of figure it out by playing around and that is something that you can do as well. But first thing you need to do is download the app or use the website recommend the app. It is much easier to use the website lets you just checking some stuff out. So you created an account. We recommend that you create an account. Maybe that's not related to you or your business as of yet. And then when you kind of more comfortable at it and delete that account and create a new account, you can check it out very easily and we also recommend that you spend some time watching other videos to learn about these types of content the app features and viral components of Tik Tok and when you're ready record your own video play around with add some add the content that some effects like filters music and more will get into those in a few minutes add hashtags that are related to content. That's how the app finds the related videos.

[00:06:40] Uploaded to Tic Tac and see what happens also right into the support. Tiktok.com is a lot of information on how to do these things as well that I included for you and save a draft using countdowns. You know, how do you actually integrate with the app and there's a lot more there to how to create a duet and then it has all its privacy and education they're available as well. So what can you do? Let's take a look at this.

[00:07:35] That's pretty interesting that Steve Harvey as you all probably know but when you can do it, you can watch the videos. We just watch one watching is fun. You can learn and laugh and see funny things. There's tons of different types of content from educational videos to cringe videos too. Hilarious videos to Brandon videos. We'll talk a little bit more about that a few minutes. But the main thing that you do is create videos, you can create the video in app.

[00:08:06] You can create the video using your mobile device or another recording device. You can actually live stream an app from Tik-Tok which is basically you're shooting the video and you're playing a game at the same time and followers can watch you live. You can also add a lot of visual filters. You can add time affects you can split screens. They even have some off-screen applications. You can add stickers gifts images of emojis and more

[00:08:38] But what you can do to your videos at you add create and edit music to it. There's an extensive Library plus it integrates into Apple music. So you have millions and millions of songs and songs are icky. I guess Foundation to Tik Tok you can interact with tic toc. You can light things. You can give them Hearts you can give gifts you can make comments share more and to discover things on Tic Tac tic toc you can use hashtags and keywords hashtags or the most popular use you can also wage covered by adding your frame friend name or code Tik Tok actually has a code for each of its users and you can get their codes and then you can add them to your own network Explorer profilers. You can follow and file in and look at followers, you know, see how many people that they have in their profiles. You can see how many hearts that they get. They also a Thursday.

[00:09:37] Still have official accounts. So here are celebrity or our brand you can apply for an official account. And this is emerging here and it's starting to to grow when we talk about business side will get into this a little bit more but you can spend virtual coins can be exchanged for cash cash and currently it's about a buck $39 for a hundred and then the more you buy the more more coins that you get to get.

[00:10:05] So how is it used? Here's a good example, and it's topical relevant to what's going on right now.

[00:10:21] Not practicing social distancing but wage.

[00:10:32] So really there's no typical way to use it but people are still discovering, you know, just putting up a massive amounts content, but there's no rule book home, but popular uses are lip-synching dancing as you just kind of saw comedy cats and dogs Trends are really important. There's lots of challenges out there with song and dance challenges hashtags have used the hashtag. Halo two adult. It's kind of a spoof on these young young teens and and maybe early Millennials wage, uh, you know, uh having parodies about being adults and how to adult there's Duets where you can sample other videos and add add yourself to the video. You can do collaborations Phoenix spoofs and more. There's the cringe videos which are popular and those are awkward scenarios or situations which are funny may be painful. There's a lot of you know people off,

[00:11:29] Laying down and and you know, uh car crash type things that are going on there. There's a lot of things that are embarrassing. There's a big Trend going on right now where kids are putting their sweatshirts on backwards and standing in front of the refrigerator and not listening to a parent a scam that they pull the hood down in there the shows their face. So it's kind of embarrassing shock and funny which leads us to the React videos. You can also record your reaction to a video while another video plays. So if you're watching a video which is the mode I can actually overlay my video trying to show me doing that dance or show my reaction to that dance.

[00:12:15] There's a lot different things that you can do in it as well. So that's how it's just so what's the business use you can start seeing a early adoption by businesses. You can start seeing larger Brands like the NFL challenges are going into effect. They're using NFL clips for promotion organizations, like Universal Studios, or you know, putting Clips out there available for people to use and and do those types of things that we're talking about those video overlays to share them but it's you know, it can be expensive if you want to do a brand take over where you know, everybody in the TikTok app opens up their app with guaranteed five million impressions. You can look at $100,000 Plus for that video.

[00:13:01] But here's something that they can't say chiefs are doing along with the NFL.

[00:13:23] That's pretty cool.

[00:13:28] You can actually really see how that brand can integrate but there's also in feed video ads, you know pre plays and promoted Tik Tok videos that they call it for you feed which uses auction and bidding Styles models. There is top video ads which is kind of a combo both -  take over and feed video ads. There's branded lenses that can be added where people can you know, Brands can give you a filters and then you use their factors to Overlay your videos and user can try on different things 2D and 3D lens effects. There's branded songs. There's a lot of Brands like Oreo and others just created songs that they upload to the director that other people can use and those songs go viral but good and creative content can go viral for free. So that's what's wrong.

[00:14:25] All about social media in itself is if you're good at create a good and creative way and that is something that someone who really likes that would like to share the vital component is always free. There's also for business use so you can engage in to influencers people that have popular followers millions and millions of viewers. You can actually start engaging in the Commerce in the there's going to be in the app links for Branded shopping and also helps to move the customer sales process again in the engagement cycle. So the future of Tik Tok it's going to have continued growth. It's just, you know, massive continued growth you should continue ad spend which can support the egg that growth continued app development and 2020 that are looking at integrating shoppable ads. So, yep.

[00:15:25] Tech has a tremendous future and a lot of opportunity and it's something that you should really dive into an Explorer. It may not be something that you want to do for you or your brand at this point in time, but you can actually engage into it and check it out and learn from it before you decide to jump in with your business or brand.
