An old friend from Detroit, Josh Linkner, who got started in the digital world about the same time I did created this video called "Trading Fours". It is a way to collaborate while making music and the same principles can be applied when collaboration on your digital marketing strategies. In brief, each musician plays four chords or bars and then they collaborate and mash-up the ideas until they have something they can work with or a direction forward. The same approach can be taken in working on strategy for a digital marketing campaign. Take your skill sets, come up with four ideas, share them, and work through them with your team together.
As Seth Godin said, "Marketing is no longer about the stuff you make, but about the stories you tell." This works well with the music theme as music tells stories and groups collaborating together make the stories. So this exercise of "Trading Fours" can really work and I thought I would share it with you all.
